What Is A Lip Augmentation?
If you naturally have thin lips or you notice less fullness because of age, surgical or nonsurgical lip augmentation can help create a more shapely, fuller pout. We can improve the volume or shape of your lips with a variety of lip augmentation options, including fat transfer, silicone implants, or a lip lift. Lip augmentation creates beautiful results that last for years. If you prefer nonsurgical lip augmentation, we offer several dermal fillers that can temporarily add volume to the lips for a fuller look. Please contact Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery in Tampa, FL to schedule a consultation and learn more about lip augmentation. Dr. Brandon-Dzung Mang will discuss all of your choices and create a custom treatment plan.

What are the benefits of A lip augmentation?
As we age, it’s not uncommon to lose volume in the lips due to a decrease in collagen production. This results in thinner lips and less definition around the border. If you feel self-conscious about your appearance, our lip augmentation procedures provide many benefits, including:
- Restoring lost volume
- Enhancing your natural lip shape
- Adding definition to the lips
- Creating a more youthful appearance
- Improving self-confidence
Lip augmentation can also be used to correct asymmetry between the two lips. Whether your upper lip is thinner than your lower lip or vice versa, this cosmetic procedure can provide a more balanced and proportionate appearance.
Is Lip Augmentation Right For You?
Nonsurgical or surgical lip augmentation can help you achieve fuller lips or a shapelier mouth. Depending on your cosmetic goals, you can decide on a surgical lip augmentation for long-lasting results or injectable fillers to avoid recovery time. At first, it may be a good option to try dermal fillers. This will give you a better idea about your preferred lip volume before undergoing surgery. Ideal candidates for upper and/or lower lip enhancement:
- Have naturally thin lips or have lost lip volume with age
- Have uneven or asymmetrical lips
- Want to enhance the entire face
- Maintain good health
How Is A Lip Augmentation Performed?
During your consultation, Dr. Mang will help you select the best treatment type for you. The technique is different for each type of treatment:
- Lip Implants
Dr. Mang creates a thin incision in the corner of the lips so he can easily insert the implant(s). It can take weeks for swelling to subside and the implant(s) to settle into position, but this treatment provides improvements that last for years. - Fat Transfer
Dr. Mang uses liposuction to extract fat from areas of your body that have unwanted fat. The extracted fat is purified and injected into your lips. We repeat the injections until we have achieved your desired goal. Since some fat may reabsorb during the recovery, we may overfill the lips. To maintain your results, we can repeat this treatment, but your results should last for many years. - Lip Lift/Vermilion Advancement
A thin incision is made on the lower and/or upper border of the lip. After making the incision, a small area of skin outside the lips is removed. Next, the lips are gently pulled to cover the excised skin and stitched into their new position. This lip treatment creates lasting results that improve the shape and size of the lips. - Dermal Fillers
Dr. Mang can perform nonsurgical lip augmentation with dermal fillers. Based on the type of dermal filler, it may contain a local anesthetic, or we will apply a numbing cream to the lips. Once you are numb, Dr. Mang administers injections into the lips and then massages them for better results. Right after your procedure, you can resume your daily routine.
What to Expect After A Lip Augmentation
We will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and to reduce discomfort. At first, your mouth will feel sore or tender. To address any uncomfortable symptoms, Dr. Mang recommends using cold compresses and nonprescription pain medications. If you received a fat transfer, please keep in mind that you will need to care for the liposuctioned area and your lips. For patients who received dermal filler injections, these treatments can last about 3 – 12 months. The longevity of your injectable depends on the formula. Lip implants provide long-lasting results, but over time, aging can impact results. During your consultation and depending on your treatment type, Dr. Mang will discuss the details about maintaining your results and scheduling your next appointment.
Lip Augmentation FAQ
How much does lip augmentation cost?
Your cost for lip augmentation will be based on a number of factors, including whether you choose dermal fillers, a fat transfer, or implants. During your initial consultation with Dr. Mang, he will create your treatment plan and discuss your estimated cost. Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery accepts a variety of payment methods, and we can help you locate low-interest medical financing to make your treatment easy to afford.
Can I get the lips of a specific celebrity?
Like many other patients, you may come in and request the full, sexy lips of an actor or actress. Having photos of lips you want can help Dr. Mang understand your goals; however, it can be unrealistic to create the shape and appearance of someone else. In your first appointment, Dr. Mang will listen to your goals before discussing your options (a fat transfer, implants, or dermal fillers) to augment your lips. After that, he will create your personal treatment plan.
Should I get implants, a fat transfer, or fillers?
Based on your specific needs and goals, Dr. Mang can help you choose between implants, a fat transfer, and dermal fillers for your lip augmentation. If you are unsure about which option you want or nervous about surgery, dermal fillers may be your best choice. When you get more comfortable with the process and determine how much volume you would like, we can move on to lip implants or a fat transfer. At your consultation, Dr. Mang can discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each of your choices, so you can decide which is best for you.
Do lip implants look fake?
Lip implants are made with a flexible material that is designed to look and feel natural. With his years of experience and training, Dr. Mang inserts lip implants so your results will appear natural but impressive. During your consultation, he will discuss the shape and size of lower and/or upper implants to meet your needs and goals. In a few months, your implants will get into place, and the swelling will be gone so you can see your results.
Is lip augmentation reversible?
Typically, patients are very happy with their results. However, if you're unhappy with your outcomes, you can opt to have your implants removed. If you are uncertain about lip implants, Dr. Mang might suggest injectable fillers since they are minimally invasive. With dermal fillers, the gel solution will slowly absorb into the body, which means that your lips will become smaller.
