What Are Wrinkle Relaxers?
Reducing the appearance of wrinkles or fine lines on the upper part of the face is easy with wrinkle relaxer injections. The wrinkles or lines that develop from repetitive facial expressions are called “dynamic.” Eventually, these dynamic wrinkles stay visible, even when the facial muscles are totally relaxed. Wrinkle relaxers can dramatically reduce the appearance of these lines by temporarily "freezing" muscle movements. This allows the skin on top of these muscles to smooth itself. We can also use wrinkle relaxer injectables on younger patients as a preventive treatment. At Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery in Tampa, FL, Dr. Brandon-Dzung Mang is pleased to offer wrinkle relaxer treatments to Tampa, FL adults.
Wrinkle Relaxers Reviews
"Dr. Brandon Mang has recently relocated his Pinellas Park office to South Tampa on Gandy Boulevard. I normally receive Botox injections from a nurse practitioner at a nearby practice. The people who have injected my Botox in the past have been quick in their process...almost too quick. Dr. Mang takes the time to discuss your areas of concern, applies numbing cream, and then marks these areas with Betadine to ensure no infection and proper placement. I chose Dr. Mang because he is an expert in his field. He and his staff are professional and friendly. Dr. Mang’s genuine bedside manner with his patients is truly one of the best I have ever encountered. He takes the time to answer all your questions and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the procedures you are inquiring about. I highly recommend Dr. Brandon Mang for all your plastic and cosmetic surgery needs."- A.M. / Google / Feb 20, 2020
"I always wanted to try out Botox, just a chicken committing because I don’t like needles; A few of my coworkers went with me to ease the idea of doing it alone. It’s important to note, they used clean and individual packages of needles for each of us and numbing cream with betadine on the spots I wanted to be injected with the filler. The process wasn’t bad at all, especially since they were doing a $9/unit special accompanied by a glass of Rose - how can I say no to that? When Dr. Mang injected my forehead and pulled out the needle, you can hear a small crunch; this is normal and Dr. Mang explained if you don’t hear this sound, it is not being done correctly. I wouldn’t have done this or brought other people unless it was anyone else than fellow Yelper, Anna M., because I trust her so much.Thank you for the opportunity - even though I got 10 units vs. 50 units of botox compared to a coworker - I feel that it was effective to iron out my wrinkles, even though I know I have minimal amount heading into my 30s. This was my X-mas gift to myself!I saw firsthand the difference for people who do have a lot of wrinkles & are young, so IMO botox is such an amazing product to help smooth out wrinkles."- J.X. / Google / Mar 01, 2020
"I recently got a tummy tuck, upper eye lid surgery and some Botox and couldn’t be happier with my results!! I look 10 years younger and feel so much better about myself in so many ways. Throughout my recovery, Dr. Mang was always quick to respond when I had questions and was always a pleasure to speak to - he truly is an amazing doctor! His staff couldn’t be more accommodating, knowledgeable and always a pleasure to deal with. If you are considering any plastic surgery, Mang Plastic Surgery is the way to go, I definitely recommend them 100%!!"- R.9. / Google / Jul 27, 2021
Are You A Good Candidate For Wrinkle Relaxers?
Wrinkle relaxers work great for patients who want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on their forehead without undergoing surgery. Even if you do not show signs of aging, we can use wrinkle relaxers as a preventive, anti-aging treatment. This nonsurgical treatment can treat forehead wrinkles, frown lines, or fine lines near the eyes. If you have significant signs of aging, we may combine a wrinkle relaxer with a dermal filler. Also, for older patients with severe skin laxity, we may recommend a surgical facelift for more optimal results. After assessing your skin and listening to your cosmetic goals, Dr. Mang will help you determine if wrinkle relaxers work best for you.
How do wrinkle relaxers work?
Usually, we can perform your wrinkle relaxer injections right after your consultation. At the beginning of your treatment, we will ask you to make a variety of facial expressions. This helps us place the injections in the best spots. Often, we administer injections between the brows, near the eyes, and along the forehead. After marking the treatment spots, we inject the wrinkle relaxer with a fine needle. If needed, we can apply a numbing cream; however, the discomfort is usually minimal. To reduce swelling and bruising, a cold compress is applied to the injection sites. Overall, your treatment takes about 10 – 15 minutes, then you can resume your daily activities.
What should I Expect after wrinkle relaxers?
After the injection, you may resume your daily routine, but you should avoid strenuous exercise for at least a day. At first, patients need to sleep upright and avoid touching their faces. Otherwise, you could accidentally spread the wrinkle relaxer to other areas. The treatment areas may look red, swollen, or bruised for 2 – 3 days, but you should not develop any serious side effects. The longevity of your results depends on the type of wrinkle relaxer product. Before you leave, we will provide detailed aftercare instructions and help you schedule follow-up appointments so you can maintain your results.

Do wrinkle relaxer injections hurt?
Most patients don't find wrinkle relaxer injections painful or uncomfortable. The needle used for the injections is very small and fine – much smaller than the ones used to give vaccinations. Before we begin, we can apply a numbing cream to the treatment area to help make you more comfortable.
How many injections/units will I need?
The amount of the particular wrinkle relaxer given will differ based on individual needs and the depth and severity of your wrinkles. Dr. Mang or a member of his experienced team can suggest the ideal number of wrinkle relaxer injections according to your treatment desires and whether you want to treat the brow area, Crow's feet, or forehead. To prolong your cosmetic results, our experts may suggest scheduling wrinkle relaxer treatments every 3 – 4 months at Rejuve Aesthetic Surgery.
Can wrinkle relaxers be paired with other nonsurgical services?
Wrinkle relaxer treatments pair well with other aesthetic services for men and women who prefer to minimize signs of aging. If you notice more pronounced and extensive wrinkles and lines, our team might recommend administering a dermal filler to help you achieve your smoothest results. To further enhance your younger-looking radiant glow, Dr. Mang could perform additional complementary services, including facials, chemical peels, or PRP therapy.
What is the difference between wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers?
Although wrinkle relaxers, like BOTOX, XEOMIN, and Dysport, are utilized to diminish facial creases by temporarily blocking your muscle movements, dermal fillers are a separate collection of aesthetic options that improve volume in the face. Dermal fillers are designed to plump sunken features and soften static wrinkles. Dr. Mang can decide whether you may be a good candidate for a dermal filler (such as Restylane® or JUVÉDERM®) to complement your wrinkle relaxer outcomes.
